We are only one month out from the Airshow and things are really starting to heat up.
The Air display is coming together and we have a fantastic line up of aircraft that will be certain to entertain the crowds. The ADF have confirmed their commitment, which is always welcome and we are hoping to build on what we already have coming from the RAAF.
Many of you have kindly volunteered to help on the day, which would not be possible to facilitate our airshow without your help.
The Airshow Committee and I appreciate the support you have offered to make the show a success and are looking forward to seeing you at the Volunteer briefing sessions on either the 7th or 9th of March. Remember you must attend a safety briefing and collect your passes and uniforms.
This year we are introducing much stricter entry and electronic ticketing procedures after we found a number of counterfeit tickets being used. We have employed a professional ticket agency to manage the process. If you are not a volunteer or a display pilot you must buy a ticket, which of course will support our beneficiaries.
You will no doubt have noticed the billboards along EastLink and other intersections around the Peninsula, which has proved to be a great promotional success last time.
Unfortunately during the month we suffered an attack by some callous person/s with intent to damage our airshow promotion by painting out our billboards. Thankfully the media and others have come to our aid to support and frustrate this person/s attempts and have given us additional media well beyond our budget
Eastlink have also given us access to their Eastlinks eNewsletter, which goes out to more than 360,000 people each month. Additionally we have received support from the RACV Magazine to promote the event, which reaches 600,000 readers.
We have plenty of posters in Flight Ops and would like all members to take one or more to put up around the shops, officers and workplaces to help promote the Airshow.
I am hoping, with the weather Gods willing, this will be our biggest and best show yet.
I am pleased to see members of long standing, starting to host our newer members down at the Club and taking them for a fly. This is a great way to get to know new members and make them feel welcome.
I am keen to grow our membership this year and ask members to do what they can to introduce a friend to aviation or become a Social Member.
