Introducing P.A.C.'s new C.F.I. Peter Warnest
Peter has always had a passion for flying. It began before his school days. An old photo still exists showing a three year old, sitting in a wooden box with a broom stick as his joy stick, pretending he was in flight. During his primary school days he had his first flight in a Tiger Moth. By age 14 he was flying gliders, going solo at age 15. Peter gained his commercial license by age 20 at Australia's first full-time flying academy, Hunter Valley Aviation at Cessnock, N.S.W.
Moving to South Australia, Peter flew charters and instructed for Ansett General Aviation. While here he gained his Instructor's Rating. Afterwards he returned to Hunter Valley Aviation for more flight training.
For a time, Peter was based in Cairns, performing charter flights throughout the Gulf country. At other times the charter work would take him south, following the Barrier Reef, visiting islands and coastal destinations. And while continuing with this charter work on a part-time basis, Peter established his own aircraft charter business in Queensland.
Later, Peter was employed by the State Aircraft Unit in Victoria where he was engaged in aerial surveillance, fire attack and personal transport services. But as happens with so many seasoned aviators, there comes a time they seek to return to their beginnings. In this, Peter went back to being a flying instructor. Commencing at Mangalore and then moving to Ballarat, he has experienced the challenging and satisfying work of training Chinese students. His constant desire for new challenges has led Peter to P.A.C. He can readily see what a fantastic Club we have and wishes to continue and maintain the high standard that we all currently enjoy. Peter will arrive with his wife Angeline, who has her own career as a nurse. His Auster will come too. It's not only about the job; this will be a Sea Change. Welcome Peter Warnest.
As a result of a misunderstanding, it was reported in this article that Peter Warnest would commence with P.A.C. on Feb 21. Peter is fulfilling commitments within his current term of employment and will step into his new post with P.A.C. on April 4.
